The Design - Radcliffe

Summary of the design

  • Self build plots accessed off Radcliffe Street via a connected road that features an enhanced green corridor with a wide bridle path and single aspect road.

  • 9 large self build plots, capable of developing spacious 4-5 bedroom houses - plot size is optional depending on requirements.

  • Pocket parks and new footpath links to the main PROW of the site which separates the self build home sites of Radcliffe Street & Dellhide Close

  • Woodland play zone within existing retained trees.

  • 5 Acres of open space surrounding the self build development sites, with plans to make this a community asset. Building on the ecology and character of the land to create a beautifully landscaped managed space for all.

  • Key public right of way and increased footpaths throughout the wider development improving sustainability and connectivity for new and existing residents of Springhead.

  • Plots are in line with the existing residential boundary of The Meadows to ensure adequate building line is retained to the Green belt land beyond the site, whilst providing key routes and connections to explore Wood Brook and its surrounding beauty.

  • Plots are placed within strategic areas to allow minimum effect upon ecology. Providing a ecological haven for the area, with proposed green corridors and bridleway will be key for walks throughout the area.

How does it work

Part of the wider proposals include 18 Self Build plots which respond to demand and the increase in those wanting to be part of the design and build of their own forever homes.

 

The Group are supported by an external Self Build Specialist who will manage the whole process, assist you in designing your home, submit the new community developments planning application, set up the construction process, assist in securing the necessary finance. The principle is to give local people the opportunity to have an alternative option rather than just selecting a new build plot from an average developer. 

Designs will be managed through design code, ensuring the final result is not a patchwork quilt and holds architectural integrity whilst allowing individualism and personal touches throughout. Environmentally friendly design will be encouraged and supported ensuring at a minimum the developed houses have a minimum level of eco friendly assets, to be developed through the design process. 

The aim is to bring together a group of people to form their own self build community, like minded people with a shared interest in building a home for life.
